This strategic move is part of a joint effort to intensify training in extreme Arctic conditions.

Personnel from the Joint Helicopter Command are optimistic about the opportunity to train and complete environmental qualifications in the harsh Arctic winter, where temperatures can reach lows of -30°C.

According to an RAF press release, the training is crucial to ensuring that UK military personnel can operate globally, protecting the country’s interests, especially in cooperation with NATO and partner nations.

This survival and operational training is essential to prepare the UK forces for operations in some of the world’s most hostile environments.

Interoperability and cooperation are key to projecting lethal force and sustaining deployments.

After completing Arctic training, the Joint Helicopter Force’s Apache helicopters will remain in Norway to participate in another exercise.

This subsequent exercise will involve about 20,000 personnel from 14 countries, demonstrating the scale and importance of the UK’s military presence in the region.
